Journey through traditional Berber villages, visit the UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, and explore Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” Travel through the lush Draa Valley before embarking on a camel trek into the Sahara Desert, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber camp under a star-filled sky. Witness the magical sunrise over the dunes before returning to Marrakech, capturing unforgettable memories along the way.
Today, we pick you up from your accommodation and begin our scenic journey across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest mountain pass in Morocco. As we cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, winding roads, and traditional Berber villages nestled along the hillsides, with several stops for photos and short breaks.
Our next destination is the historic village of Aït Benhaddou, home to the famous Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you will have time for lunch before exploring this ancient fortified ksar, known for its impressive earthen architecture and cinematic history.
We then continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where we visit one of its renowned film studios. Afterward, we drive through the beautiful Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves, kasbahs, and lush oases, passing traditional villages on our way to the desert town of Zagora.
At the end of the day, we meet our camels and begin a peaceful ride into the desert to reach your Berber camp. Your overnight stay includes accommodation in traditional desert tents, a delicious Moroccan dinner, and breakfast the following morning, offering a truly authentic experience under a sky filled with stars.
The next morning, we wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the desert dunes, a peaceful and unforgettable moment. After enjoying the magical colors of dawn, we ride camels back to the camp. Following breakfast, we begin our journey toward Ouarzazate, traveling through the scenic Draa Valley and passing the charming town of Agdez, known for its palm groves and traditional kasbahs.
Before continuing to Marrakech, we stop to visit Kasbah Taourirt, the historic fortress located in the heart of Ouarzazate. This impressive kasbah showcases traditional southern Moroccan architecture and offers insight into the region’s rich history.
We then continue our drive across the High Atlas Mountains, with stops at panoramic viewpoints to admire the landscapes and capture memorable photos. We had a fantastic time on this 2-day Zagora tour. Our guide Omar was amazing – very warm, professional, and full of stories about the places we visited. The drive over the High Atlas via Tizi n’Tichka was breathtaking, with plenty of photo stops. Aït Benhaddou was stunning, and we loved walking through the old kasbah. The camel trek into the desert at sunset was so peaceful, and the Berber camp was comfortable with a delicious dinner. Omar made sure everything was perfect. Highly recommended!
I traveled alone on this tour and felt completely safe thanks to our guide Ali. He was kind, attentive, and made sure I had everything I needed. The Draa Valley is incredibly beautiful – lush palm groves and ancient kasbahs everywhere. The night in the desert camp was magical: great food, Berber music around the fire, and the clearest stars I’ve ever seen. Ali woke me up early for the sunrise, and it was absolutely worth it. A perfect short desert escape from Marrakech!
This tour was the highlight of our Morocco trip! Our guide Hicham was excellent – very knowledgeable and always smiling. He explained the history of Aït Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate in detail. The camel ride into Zagora was gentle and the sunset views were spectacular. The camp was clean and cozy, and the breakfast in the morning was fresh and tasty. Hicham drove safely and played good music on the way back. We will definitely recommend this tour to our friends!
We only had two days free and this Zagora tour was the perfect choice. Our guide Mohamed was fantastic – very friendly and flexible. He let us stop whenever we wanted for photos and even took us to a local Berber family for tea. The sunrise over the dunes was unforgettable – Mohamed woke us up at 6am and led us to the best spot. The return journey through the Draa Valley was scenic and relaxing. Mohamed dropped us off at our riad in Marrakech with big smiles. 10/10 experience!
