Your 5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with an early pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We travel across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) with panoramic views of Berber villages and mountain landscapes.
Our first major stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historic fortified village (ksar) that once served as an important caravan stop between Marrakech and the Sahara. The kasbah is also a famous filming location for movies such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
We then continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you will visit Atlas Studios and Taourirt Kasbah. Afterward, we drive through the palm groves of Skoura, then pass through Kalaat M’Gouna (Roses Valley), famous for its annual Rose Festival.
By late afternoon, we reach Dades Gorge, where you will admire the dramatic rock formations known as “Monkey Fingers.” Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel overlooking the valley.
After breakfast, we continue our 5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga toward the Sahara Desert. We pass through Tinghir and visit the spectacular Todgha Gorge, a canyon with towering rock walls reaching up to 300 meters high. You’ll have time to walk along the river and enjoy the scenery.
We continue through Tinjdad and small Berber villages before reaching Erfoud and Rissani, known for their palm groves and traditional markets.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel near the desert.
After breakfast, you will explore the fascinating surroundings of Merzouga. We drive around the dunes to visit nomadic families, discover an old French iron mine, and explore Khamlia village, where you will enjoy traditional Gnawa music.
Later, we visit Rissani’s traditional souk, famous for dates and local crafts.
In the afternoon, your desert adventure begins with a camel trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset before arriving at your traditional Berber desert camp. Spend the night under the stars with dinner, local music, and an unforgettable Sahara experience.
Wake up early to witness a magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast at the camp, ride your camel back to Merzouga, where you can shower and relax.
We then continue toward Ouarzazate, passing through Alnif, Tazzarine, and Nkob, traditional Berber villages. Drive along the beautiful Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest valley, famous for its palm groves and ancient kasbahs.
