Explore the Sahara desert the best way on this 4 days Marrakech to Fes desert tour!
Your 4-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour begins with a morning departure from your accommodation in Marrakech. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains to Ait Ben Haddou. You will get to see traditional Berber villages, enjoy the exquisite views of the Atlas Mountains, and stop in some panoramas for pictures.
Arrive at Ait Ben Haddou village. Here, you will visit the antique Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which has been protected by UNESCO since 1987. Many famous movies shot in Morocco used the Kasbah as a location, including Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and also used for some parts of the TV series Game of Thrones and O Clone.
After having lunch here, drive towards the Dades Gorges, passing through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses. Once you arrive at Dades Gorges, you can visit the rock formations called “monkey toes” before heading to your accommodation.
After a delicious breakfast, you will drive along the Todra River (full of palm groves and Berber villages) to the Todra Gorge in Tinghir, one of the most spectacular canyons in the world! Then, travel to the Merzouga desert.
Before arriving at Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, our driver/guide will suggest visiting a traditional Berber shop, where you will get to take some pictures wearing a Berber outfit for free. Then, you can buy something if you wish (scarves are highly recommended for the desert). Note that it is not obligatory to buy anything. The first goal of the shop is to promote the Berber culture. You can let your driver/guide know if you are not interested in the Berber shop so you can skip it.
When you arrive in Merzouga, you will have the opportunity to go on a camel ride into the desert to watch the sunset over the dunes and try sandboarding. You will then spend the night in a luxury desert camp, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and experience the magic of the Sahara at night.
An early wake-up today is highly recommended to watch a glorious sunrise from the nearest dune. After a delicious breakfast in the camp, you will start your exploration of the Merzouga desert. Our 4×4 SUV will enable you to reach the Berber Nomads behind the dunes, where you will get to know the Berber lifestyle and how they have survived in the middle of nowhere! And many more about their rich culture. You will also visit a small hidden deserted village called Mefis, listen to Gnawa music in the village of Khamlia, and visit the Lake of Birds if it is full.
Following lunch, we will proceed to your Riad, where you may check-in and enjoy some leisure time. During this time, you may choose to swim or take a stroll to the nearby dunes. Later in the evening, dinner will be served, after which you will spend the night at your Riad. It is worth noting that you have the option to spend the night at the desert camp again if you desire.
After a tasty breakfast at your Riad, we will travel to Fes. On the way, we will stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. We will have lunch in Midelt or somewhere along the way. We may see some Barbary apes in the Middle Atlas Mountains cedar forest. We will also stop in Ifrane for a break before heading to Fes. Your 4 days tour from Marrakech to Fes will end by dropping you off at your Riad in Fes.
We usually pick you up around 8:00 AM to enjoy the mountain views.

If you want to truly experience the diversity of southern Morocco in just 5 days, choose Mirage Morocco. The landscapes are stunning: from the green palm groves of Skoura to the dramatic cliffs of Dades Gorge. The desert camp was comfortable and the food was delicious. Our guide Omar was professional and made the journey even more memorable. A well-organized trip.
We booked this tour with Mirage Morocco last minute and it exceeded all expectations. The itinerary is well-paced not too rushed, but you see so much. The camel ride into the dunes was a highlight, but so was the visit to Khamlia village and the Gnawa music. Our guide Rachid was friendly and always helpful. Great value for money.
Increíble! This tour packed so much into two days. From the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou to the stunning Todra Gorge, every stop was special. The highlight was definitely riding camels into Erg Chebbi dunes and spending the night in a traditional Berber tent. The camp staff were so welcoming, and the drumming around the campfire was great fun. Day 2 through the cedar forests and Ifrane was equally beautiful. Small group tour made it feel personal. Absolutely recommended
An absolutely incredible experience organized by Mirage Morocco! From the moment we left Marrakech with our guide Hassan, every day brought something new. Ait Ben Haddou was like stepping into a movie set, and the camel trek in Merzouga at sunset was pure magic. The desert camp was comfortable and the hospitality warm. Highly recommend!
