Our journey begins in the morning from Marrakech, heading towards Erfoud and starting an exciting adventure through the diverse landscapes of southern Morocco.
Our first stop will be at Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where we take some time to admire the spectacular mountain scenery and enjoy the panoramic views before continuing our journey through the High Atlas Mountains towards Ouarzazate.
After passing through Ouarzazate, we continue towards southeastern Morocco, with a lunch stop along the way before continuing our journey.
We then head towards Tinghir and the impressive Todra Gorges, passing through beautiful mountain landscapes and enjoying the scenery along the route.
From the Todra Gorges, we continue directly towards Erfoud. Upon arrival, we head to the hotel for check-in and some time to relax, preparing for the following days of fossil exploration in the region.

After breakfast, we begin our first full day of fossil exploration in the Erfoud region, heading into the desert to discover some of the area’s remarkable fossil sites.
Morning – Kem Kem Beds | 09:30–14:30
Our morning is dedicated to exploring the Kem Kem Beds, a well-known fossil-rich area in southeastern Morocco. We spend several hours discovering the geological landscape and exploring the fossil-bearing formations of the region.
This is a great opportunity for fossil enthusiasts to experience the area in the field, observe its unique geological surroundings, and deepen their appreciation of Morocco’s remarkable fossil heritage.
After the morning exploration, we take a break before continuing with the afternoon program.
Afternoon – Filon 12 (Mefiss) | 15:30–17:30
In the afternoon, we continue our fossil adventure at Filon 12 in Mefiss. We explore the site and its surrounding geological formations, continuing our search and discovery of fossils in this fascinating desert environment.
The afternoon offers another opportunity to enjoy a hands-on fossil experience while discovering more about the geological richness of the Erfoud region.
After finishing the exploration, we return to Erfoud for the evening and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we begin another exciting day of fossil exploration around the Erfoud region. Today’s program focuses on remarkable marine fossils and geological sites, offering a fascinating experience for fossil enthusiasts and collectors.
Morning – Ahmar Laghdad | 09:30–14:30
Our morning exploration takes us to Ahmar Laghdad, a special site known for its Devonian trilobites. We spend several hours exploring the area and discovering its fossil-bearing formations.
The site offers a fascinating opportunity to observe the geological landscape and learn more about the ancient marine life preserved within the rocks. Surrounded by the impressive desert scenery, the experience combines fossil exploration with an authentic field adventure in southeastern Morocco.
After the morning visit, we take a break before continuing with our afternoon exploration.
Afternoon – Crinoids, Orthoceras & Ammonites | 15:30–17:30
In the afternoon, we continue our fossil adventure by exploring sites associated with crinoids, Orthoceras and ammonites. These marine fossils provide an impressive insight into the ancient environments and life forms preserved in the geological formations of the region.
We spend the afternoon exploring the sites and discovering the variety of marine fossils found around Erfoud. It is a perfect way to continue the day for those interested in paleontology, geology and Morocco’s rich fossil heritage.
After completing the afternoon exploration, we return to Erfoud for the evening and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we leave Erfoud and begin our journey back to Marrakech, bringing our four-day fossil discovery adventure to an end.
As we travel west, we cross the diverse landscapes of southeastern Morocco, enjoying the changing scenery along the way. The journey takes us back through the impressive mountain landscapes and valleys that we experienced at the beginning of the tour.
This return journey is also a chance to relax after three days of fossil exploration and reflect on the incredible geological discoveries and experiences of the tour.
We continue our journey towards Marrakech, where we arrive at the end of the day, marking the conclusion of our 4-day Morocco Fossil Discovery Tour.
