    ITINERARY

    5 days tour from Tangier

Your 5 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech begins with a welcome at Tangier‘s airport, one of its ports, or your hotel, where your local guide will meet you to start the journey. From Tangier, the route heads into the Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, the famous “blue pearl” of Morocco.

Upon arrival, check into your riad and spend the afternoon exploring the town’s blue-washed alleyways, browsing its lively markets, or relaxing at a rooftop café with views over the surrounding hills. Overnight stay in Chefchaouen.

Driving distance: Approximately 112 km Driving time: Approximately 2 hours 15 min

    Day 2: Chefchaouen ⇢ Fes

After breakfast, depart for Fes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. On arrival, a local guide will lead you through the medina, one of the best-preserved medieval urban landscapes in the world, where centuries-old traditions continue in the daily rhythm of the souks.

Take time to enjoy lunch in the medina, sampling authentic Fassi cuisine, before settling into a riad in the heart of the old city for the night.

Driving distance: Approximately 197 km Driving time: Approximately 3.5 hours

Leave Fes behind this morning and head south toward the Sahara. The route passes through Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture, before climbing into the Middle Atlas Mountains, where a stop in the cedar forest offers the chance to see Barbary apes in the wild.

Continuing south, the road follows the Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s most scenic palm-lined canyons, before arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon. From there, mount a camel for the ride into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, stopping to watch the sunset from a high dune before reaching your desert camp for a night of Berber music, storytelling, and stargazing.

Driving distance: Approximately 500 km Driving time: Approximately 7.5 hours

Early risers can catch a memorable sunrise over the dunes before breakfast at the camp. From there, choose to return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 before continuing toward Dades Valley.

Along the way, stop in Rissani, home to a traditional souk on market days (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday), and walk beneath the towering walls of Todra Gorge. Continue through the Dades Valley, known for its dramatic “monkey fingers” rock formations, before checking into your hotel for the night.

Driving distance: Approximately 310 km Driving time: Approximately 5 hours

On the final day of your Tangier to Marrakech tour, head first to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” with the option to visit the Atlas Studios film sets. Continue to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in films such as The Mummy and Prince of Persia.

After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains, taking in sweeping mountain views along the way, before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon — marking the end of your 5 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech.

Driving distance: Approximately 353 km Driving time: Approximately 6.5 hours

    5 days tour from Tangier
    • We arrived by ferry in Tangier and wanted to see everything before flying out of Marrakech 4 days later. This tour was the perfect solution! The transition from the blue streets of Chefchaouen to the green cedar forests of Azrou and finally the golden sand dunes was mind-blowing. Our driver, Abdeslam, was incredible—he handled the winding roads of the High Atlas mountains like a pro so we could just relax and enjoy the views. Highly recommended!

    • What an adventure! We were worried that 4 days would be too rushed, but the timing was actually perfect. We loved having a full morning in Chefchaouen to get those perfect photos without rushing. The camel trekking at sunset in Merzouga was pure magic, and waking up in the desert is something I’ll never forget. Mohamed took great care of us, stopping at the best spots for lunch (the restaurant overlooking the Ziz Valley was stunning!). Thank you Mirage Morocco Travel

    • This tour really packs in the ‘Greatest Hits’ of Morocco. You get the culture in Fes, the nature in the Dades Valley, and the history at Ait Ben Haddou. Our guide, Rachid, was very knowledgeable and told us fascinating stories about the old caravan routes through Rissani. The accommodation in the Dades Valley was a highlight—waking up to those rock formations is unreal. An unforgettable journey.

    • I traveled solo and felt completely safe with Ismail from Mirage Morocco Travel. Starting in Tangier, we drove through parts of Morocco I never knew existed. The stop at the Midelt apple region was charming, and seeing the Barbary monkeys in Azrou was so fun! By the time we reached the sand dunes, I was already blown away, but crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass on day 4 was the cherry on top. Excellent service.
