Your 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour begins with a morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We leave the city behind and travel towards the Sahara, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains through the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Along the way, we make stops to admire the panoramic mountain views and enjoy the beautiful landscapes.
We then continue towards Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages. Here, you will have time to explore the historic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and enjoy its impressive panoramic views. The site has appeared in several famous films and TV productions, including Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones, and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
After a lunch stop along the way, we continue our journey through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco towards Merzouga. We arrive in the late afternoon, check in at a charming riad, and enjoy dinner before spending the night in Merzouga.
Start your morning with the opportunity to admire the sunrise over the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes from your riad. After breakfast, we set off to discover the beauty, culture, and landscapes of the Merzouga desert.
Our 4×4 vehicle will take you beyond the dunes to meet a Nomadic family and learn more about their traditional way of life. During the excursion, we will also visit the abandoned village of Mefes, discover the vibrant Gnawa music in Khamlia village, and stop near Lake Dayet Srij, when water is present and conditions allow.
After lunch, return to your riad for some free time to relax or enjoy the pool. In the afternoon, get ready for a memorable camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes towards the desert camp.
As the sun sets over the golden dunes, enjoy the spectacular views and try sandboarding before continuing to the camp. In the evening, enjoy dinner and spend the night in a comfortable desert camp, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere and impressive night sky of the Sahara.
After breakfast at your riad, we begin our journey back to Marrakech, taking a scenic route through the beautiful Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s most impressive palm-filled valleys.
Along the way, we stop in Agdez to enjoy a panoramic view of the valley and its vast palm groves. Take some time to admire the scenery and capture memorable photos before continuing our journey.
We then continue towards Ouarzazate, where we stop for lunch before heading back through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. As we cross the mountains, enjoy the changing landscapes and panoramic views along the route.
