Start your Sahara journey with an 8:00 AM private pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. As the lively city fades into the distance, we climb into the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the panoramic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Take in dramatic mountain vistas and capture photos of peaceful Berber settlements perched on the hillsides.
Descending toward the desert gateway, step back in history at Ait Ben Haddou—an iconic UNESCO-listed earthen fortress celebrated across global cinema. Stroll through its ancient corridors before enjoying a relaxed local lunch.
In the afternoon, we follow the enchanting Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through Ouarzazate, Skoura’s lush palm groves, and the fragrant Valley of Roses. By late afternoon, we reach the sculpted cliffs of Dades Valley, stopping to admire the striking “Monkey Fingers” rock formations before settling in for dinner and a restful night at your hotel.
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, we set off toward the desert, stopping first near Tinghir for panoramic views over lush palm groves and traditional Berber villages. A short drive further brings us to the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where massive 300-meter limestone cliffs tower above. Take a peaceful walk along the riverbed at the base of this dramatic canyon.
In the afternoon, we reach the gateway to the Sahara at Merzouga. Here, you’ll mount your camel and venture into the golden sea of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Along the way, we’ll pause on a high dune to witness an unforgettable Sahara sunset as the sand shifts into deep shades of gold .
We then continue by camel to your luxury desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with refreshing Moroccan mint tea. Savor a gourmet Moroccan dinner, then gather around a crackling campfire to enjoy traditional Berber drumming and stargazing under a spectacular, star-studded sky. Spend the night in the comfort of your private luxury desert tent.
We highly recommend an early rise to witness one of the desert’s most magical moments: a radiant sunrise over the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi. After a hearty breakfast at the camp, make your way back to Merzouga either on camelback or in a comfortable 4×4.
Setting course for Marrakech, we take a different, equally spectacular return route through the lush Draa Valley, tracking Morocco’s longest river (over 1,100 km) lined with millions of date palms and ancient kasbahs. We’ll pause in Ouarzazate for a relaxed lunch before crossing back over the majestic peaks of the High Atlas Mountains.
We arrive in Marrakech by early evening and drop you off directly at your riad or hotel, bringing your unforgettable 3-day desert expedition to an end.

Yes, it is perfect for families with children of all ages. The camel ride is gentle and guided, the luxury desert camp is safe and comfortable, and kids love playing in the sand dunes and listening to Berber drum music around the campfire. We recommend bringing warm clothes for the evening as desert temperatures drop. All meals are child-friendly.
We had an amazing 3-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga with Mirage Morocco Travel. The journey was long, but the landscapes were absolutely beautiful, especially crossing the Atlas Mountains and visiting Ait Ben Haddou and Todra Gorge. The highlight was definitely the camel ride at sunset and spending the night in the desert camp. Everything was well organized and our driver was friendly and professional. Highly recommended if you want to see the Moroccan desert in a short time.
This was one of the best experiences of our Morocco trip. We visited so many beautiful places on the way to Merzouga, and the Sahara was even better than we expected. The sunset from the dunes, the camel ride and the atmosphere at the camp were unforgettable. The drive back to Marrakech was quite long, but our driver made regular stops and we felt safe throughout the journey. Great experience overall.
The tour was very good and gave us the chance to see a lot of Morocco in only 3 days. Ait Ben Haddou, Dades Valley and Todra Gorge were beautiful, and Merzouga was definitely the highlight. The only thing to keep in mind is that there is a lot of driving, especially on the last day back to Marrakech. The desert camp and camel ride were worth it, and our driver was helpful and friendly.
We really enjoyed our 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour with Mirage Morocco Travel. The organization was good from the beginning and the driver was punctual, helpful and always ready to answer our questions. We loved the different landscapes, from the Atlas Mountains to the valleys and finally the Sahara dunes. Watching the sunset from the camel ride and waking up for sunrise was an unforgettable experience. If you only have a few days in Morocco, this tour is definitely worth doing.
